Writing Like an Insect
Have you ever watched an insect flitting from flower to flower, never staying still for more than a few seconds as it collects pollen, or nectar? They are so industrious.
And yet, if we humans flit about from one thing to another, we are accused of not concentrating, or finishing the job. But here's the thing, all those little collections an insect makes, they add up to one overall task.
As writers, there are many small tasks we have to do in the process of getting a book out into the world, far more than just writing, but they all have that one ultimate aim. Personally, I quite like flitting from one thing to another. It adds variety to my day.
So, insects are not a bad role model, after all. To my mind, they're the best.
